In February 2026, I was selected as a finalist for Piala Seri-Ibu Kraf under the Innovation Award category. A moment I will always treasure.
As an artist, I have always believed that art has the power to preserve culture while reimagining it for a modern world. This recognition feels especially meaningful because my work has always centred around bridging heritage with contemporary artistic expression — finding ways for tradition to continue evolving, inspiring, and connecting with modern audiences.
Through my oil-on-canvas collection, Threads of Strength: Celebrating Malaysian Women Through Batik Art, I explore the beauty of Malaysian heritage through vibrant storytelling and contemporary interpretation.
Inspired by Malaysian batik designers, I wanted to create this collection to showcase how batik can be appreciated not only as a fashion statement, but also as a meaningful and expressive art form. Through bold colours, fluid compositions, and symbolic storytelling, the works celebrate the richness of Malaysian culture while presenting batik through a contemporary artistic lens.
The collection invites viewers to rediscover Malaysian cultural heritage through a joyful and uplifting perspective filled with creativity, movement, and connection.
